An imagination dish garden makes a delightful gift for that special child on your list. Cover drainage holes in a flat container with pottery shards, fill with potting soil. Choose a theme such as a Western Ranch. Make bonsai trees out of dwarf junipers, a flat of Irish moss for “grass”. Cut through to make a winding  stream. Add some rocks. Fill stream bed with blue aquarium gravel.  You can purchase a plastic bridge, fences, horses, farm animals, cowboys  and Indians from a cake-decorating store. Placed on a patio table, this toy can give children hours of imaginative play and happy memories.
